New York Diary: Korean Air

My dad gave me the most awesome pre-graduation gift- trip to New York City :)  Oh, how I’ve been dreaming for this for so long and how devastated I was when the plan was cancelled yet again earlier this year, I even dedicated an entry for my heartbreak :)) But God really moves in mysterious ways, and in His own time. Out of nowhere, He gives me something better. Amazing, indeed, always.

I am experiencing jetlag which is why I’m blogging about this in the middle of the night :)) Anyway, I got to tag along my mom, my sister and my brother with me. I really wish my dad can join us too, but he has to work :(

Since we booked late, we had to pay extra but it was all worth it with Korean Air :)

The cabin crew was polite and nice. However, the only trouble is sometimes I can’t understand their English.

It was a 4-hour flight from Manila to Seoul, Korea then 14-hr flight from Korea to JFK :) I didn’t get bored because their in-flight entertainment was awesome. I watched 5 movies in total :))

Airplane food!

The meals were acceptable. I am not a fan of Korean food.

My sister and I were constantly mistaken as Koreanas :))

Tita Cora, Ate Quennie, Kuya Chris and Kuya Noel fetched us! Look who the driver is! Coco! I am suddenly missing my babies :(

And this one is Paris! She welcomed us :)

When we got to their home, Tita Cora prepared a feast for us.

Must go to sleep now! First day tomorrow! I have never been this excited in a long time :)

SG Day 5: Goodbye, Singapore.

Last entry for my Singapore trip. Check out what happened on my first, second and third, and fourth day in SG! :)

I refused to be sad and all due to the fact that we had to leave by the end of the day because I really really REALLY don’t want to leave yet. I don’t want to leave at all! I had such an amazing time during my stay and I didn’t want that to end. So instead, I prepped up early and went on for my last stroll in the streets of SG.

Good bye Bencoolen.

Ken and I rode a double-decker bus to go to Bugis then Orchard Road again.Commuting in SG is far better from commuting here in the Philippines. For instance, the buses were all clean and did not smell like piss. There was no traffic and no pollution.

Heavy breakfast for a long day ahead. Yes, Coke is included in my breakfast.

Ken’s new baby. I chose this Quicksilver cap for him :)

Our favorite station :))

I miss the LRT. It’s the most efficient way to get around and no hassle at all.

We went to VivoCity near Sentosa. I was amazed by how disciplined the Singaporeans are. Everyone’s nice and polite. They don’t have tons of security guards in the malls, not even in the entrance to check/tusok-tusok with drumstick your things. When riding a bus and it’s crowded, every single passenger pays the fare. No kundoktor needed. No one litters, every where is clean. They get in line obediently. Every one dresses nice there. Plus, I haven’t seen one homeless person.

We grabbed some drinks from Starbucks while waiting for Ken’s cousin, Ate Karen.

Angry Birds addict! :))

Then she brought us to Marche 313 at Somerset, which is a Swiss-market restaurant and I could not think of a better way to end my Singapore trip. It was the coolest dining place ever. Everyone who visits SG MUST dine here. The food and the ambiance was great, a bit pricey though but it’s all worth it. :) Photography wasn’t allowed inside but I managed to be sneaky and took a few shots.

Ate Karen and I. She was so nice :)

Ken, Ate Karen and Ate Karen’s boyfriend who’s an ECE graduate at DLSU too!

All good things must come to an end. Time to leave SG :(

 I miss Changi airport.

My plane buddies, Ray and Robert. Ken and I were placed on different flights. We arrived about midnight and my mother picked me up at the airport.

It has been three months and I still keep Singapore bills and coins in my wallet. It just took me five days and I fell in love with Singapore and I’m coming back for more. :)

SG Day 4: Orchard Road

Published: Last October 2011

Day 1: Universal Studios

Day 2 and 3: ECESEMS plant visits/tour

Day 4: Shopping day

My favorite connector ring from Forever 21 :)

Shopping day with Ken, Iris, Migs, Louis, Rap and Jewel :D

Our feet got tired from all the walking, so we stopped by to eat ice cream sandwiches :)

Resume shopping :)

Finally! I’ve always wanted to go on a Sephora <3 I bought some Mac and Too Faced goodies :)

Kuya Lloyd and Ate Kristel were so nice to accompany us to see the Merlion.

Nico photobombing Jewel’s shot :))

I just cannot go home without trying the G-MAX. It’s a must. I’ve always wanted to bungee jump! But this was in reverse. We were seated and strapped in the ride then hoisted up in the air at max. speed. It was awesome! I super love it!

We were so pumped up, we decided to go for another round!

What a perfect way to end an awesome day! :)

SG Day 2 and 3: ECESEMS Tour

We spent our first day in Universal Studios Singapore :)

SG Day 2. We woke up bright and early. We had breakfast in the hotel before our bus picked us up for our tour.

Me, Iris, Jin and Ydette.

Nanyang Technological University

NTU Campus grounds.

With Sir Sapang. They prepared a short video presentation for us and we also got to see the latest thesis projects in the DSP laboratory.

Migs, Drei, Sy, Paul and Ray.

Nico, Ken and Fred.

Me, Iris, Cla, Zeti and Andy.

Quick lunch in the university cafeteria before our next destination. I ordered Fish and Fries.

 The Marina Barrage.

I found the gallery tour highly entertaining :) I was so amazed by how they conserve their resources to provide for the future.

Super cute baby boy preparing to fly his kite! :)

Mobile One

I’m so glad that I paid attention in my Digital Communications and Data Communications class so I was able to understand that! Yay! Haha! :))

I’m leaning towards a Communications career after I graduate. I’m not excellent with Electronics :(

Ended the day in Bugis to shop a little.

<3

Dinner :)

Ken carried me for a few blocks because my legs were giving up on me :)) I love how safe the streets of Singapore were. The roads were clean and properly lit. I can be walking alone in the wee hours of the night and not worry that I get mugged or whatever :)) Unlike here in Taft, I feel unsafe going to school even in the morning and it’s just a few meters away. :(

Day 3

Migs and Iris having breakfast.

while waiting for our bus.

Yes, taxi lang yan sa SG.

Makino

We got to see how the machines were built in the factory.

Kenneth talking to one of Makino’s engineers. He’s a Filipino :)

We got to see the showroom too. This machine can perform tasks in the nano-scale range, giving exact measurements.

I dislike this polo shirt that we had to wear. The sleeves were just too big, and it’s already in the XS size.

Lovers. jk! :))

NeWater

With Sir Bert and Ms. Dulay.

Ken’s blockmates :)

With Jam.

Treated wastewater. One of the cleanest :)

With Malvin.

Fusion World

Saved the best for last. It was the highlight of our day. Awesome high-tech innovations! There was this hospital bed that can monitor the heart rate of a patient, and a video game that is powered by your own thoughts! Unfortunately, cameras weren’t allowed inside.

Kenneth won this cap! So funny when the face detector categorized Ken as a “She”  :))

Boss was such a sweetheart and gave me this :>

We decided to go to Promenade and Esplanade first before catching up with the rest of the boys who were having drinks in Clark Quay.

Levi’s jeans and shirts for my dad, Cotton On tops for my mom and DC shirts for my siblings! Yay! :)

Behind us is the magnificent Marina Bay Sands Hotel :)

Double-decker bus to Clark Quay :)

I like the party vibe in the place but I wasn’t really dressed to get into a bar, so no. :))

Such a cool concept!

My blockmates were smitten by Ate ____. I forgot! :)) She’s a Filipina :)

I was kinda sad when I realized we were halfway, our SG trip was coming to an end :( but at the same time, I was excited because we still have 2 more free days! :)

SG Day 1: Universal Studios Singapore

I forgot that I haven’t finished importing all of my entries from my old blog. And I will have tons of new and exciting posts coming up because I’ll be going somewhere special very soon ;) But first, here’s the series of posts from my Singapore trip last year.

Published: October 13, 2011

Finally! I got to fly out of the country! Yay! :) I had so much fun over our five-day ECE Seminar Trip which was held at Singapore. Well actually, we only dedicated 2 days for the company visits and got 3 free days all to ourselves :) I’m so happy to spend it with my best friends and block mates and of course, my boyfriend :)

Me and my block mates at the airport. 5AM flight :)

Touchdown, Changi Airport, Singapore :)

Their airport is one of the safest. And it’s so huge and clean :)

I might have over packed. ( Look how huge my luggage is compared to Ken’s bleu one Haha!) Cute baby pink and white polka dot luggage. This is actually my sister’s :)

Haggard, no make-up look! :)) Good thing, I still look decent without any makeup on :) Toning, cleansing and moisturizing is the key :)

We stayed at Hotel Bencoolen. The organizers picked the hotel.  It wasn’t grand but what’s nice about it was that it’s just a few minutes away from Dhoby Ghaut Station :) We practically just stayed at the hotel to sleep because we were always out. Anyway, we didn’t want to waste any time so we headed straight to Universal Studios.

Crossing the street pap pic :)) Super clean!

Why, hello there! :))

First train ride. Their MRT is super efficient. Even I, would never get lost here :))

Big thanks to Kuya Lloyd, who toured us around :)

Grabbed a quick bite at Food Blvd before heading to Universal Studios.

 Macho gwapito :)) :”>

Couples!

We went on every ride and saw all the attractions and watched every show :)

A stolen photo by Robert. Ring from Forever 21 . Watch from Fossil. Shades from Betsey Johnson :)

Another stolen shot of me. My pout wasn’t intentional here haha!

Sir Arada accompanied and bonded with us too! :)

Just because he’s cute here and I like the cuddle. :) I just had to cover my face here because I look retarded :))))))

EL girls: Michie, Ydette, Me, Iris and Jang :)

Hahahah! We often tease Pete because he has short limbs, just like that dino :))

Jewel :))

 Favorite ride, ever <3 <3 <3

Haggard but super duper uber fun day! :)

Dinner at Kopitiam.

I just love love love amusement parks. I love the thrill of riding roller coasters. I love everything. It’s just my happy place :) I’m coming back! :)

Dead tired after. Since we were obedient students, we got back to the hotel just in time for our 11 PM curfew. We didn’t want to get in any trouble on our first day, plus, we had to get up early the next day for our company trips.

While blogging about this, I am terribly missing Singapore.

Some photos were Janine Mariposa and Robert Flores’. :)

Kinder Mix

My love for Kinder started when I was still very young, when my aunts from Germany brought a bunch of Kinder surprise home on Easter during our egg hunt :)

Kinder chocolates’ richness in milk is what I love about them :)

This pack is available in Duty Free :) It contains:

3 Kinder Buenos, which  is the only Kinder product that can be found in local stores here in the Philippines.

10 Kinder Maxis, which is my favorite- next to Kinder Surprise of course.

and 8 Kinder Country. It has rice krispies,  very yummy!

Rocking Red Lips: MAC’s Ruby Woo

L-R All from MAC. Ruby Woo, Shy Shine, Girl About Town, London Life

I am still hesitant about donning full/strong makeup looks outside my house (haha). As my makeup collection grows, I am totally loving MAC’s Ruby Woo - the sexiest red lipstick there could ever be, but… since it’s matte, wear lip balm underneath or use a gloss as topcoat to prevent your lips from drying :)

L-No makeup. R- with MAC’s Ruby Woo

That’s the thing why I am fond of makeup. I love how a small tweak like this instantly transforms my face :) One doesn’t need to pile on tons of makeup.  Less is more. There’s nothing more off-putting than a face drenched and drowning in heavy/exaggerated makeup on a normal day. For me, it’s all about balance (Made up eyes corresponds with nude lips. Earth toned eyes is to bold lips.) but sometimes I do experiment, it’s always cool to try new looks to know what suits you best, just make sure it’s appropriate for where you’ll be going and what you’ll be doing :) Leaving you with what missglamorazzi (one of my favorite youtube makeup guru) says:

Makeup is a supplement, not a requirement.

First of Summer: Camarines Sur

The night before we left for Camarines Sur for our family trip, I registered for BB Social. Within minutes, without warning, my sim card mysteriously got rejected. First, I was so pissed off, cursing like a sailor under my breath, having a B.F. (if you know what I mean haha) about it and all, just freaking out basically- and it just ain’t pretty…

Then it hit me. I realized, maybe God wanted this for me. Time apart from all my electronic gadgets, technology. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a great way to be in touch with friends and all but sometimes we get so caught up in our daily lives, we tend to forget to live in the moment. I took the time to reflect. After all, it’s holy week. :)

Our travel lasted for about 12 hours (from Laguna to Naga City). My dad and brother took turns while driving.  It was already 3:00PM when we arrived at Sabang Port.  We missed the Harry (a big passenger boat) because we weren’t informed about the schedule and we miscalculated our travel time. So, we had to rent a smaller boat. We were almost harassed by the most unpleasant people I’ve ever met in the port. They were clearly overpricing and they are not nice and just plain annoying (unlike the lovely people I met in Pagudpud, Palawan and Bohol).   I suggest having someone to fix arrangements in Sabang port. Oh, and for the cars, there are gated parking lots that you can rent near the port area. The travel time from Sabang port to Guijalo port lasted for 2.5 hours. We were all exhausted and hungry. Thanks to Sights and Sands for the heavy dinner waiting for us :) We took a quick shower first before dozing off to a much needed sleep for our tour day ahead.

Caramoan Haven offers packages that provided all our accommodations during our trip.

Itinerary: Minalagos Island, Matukad Beach, Lahos Island, Manlawi Beach, Cotibas Island, Bugtong beach, Church of Saint Michael (17th Century Church), Grotto of Our Lady of Peace

Photo flood ahead :D

I managed to drown out that thundering roar of the engine, calm my thoughts, enjoy the company of my family and be inspired by the beauty around me.

Request for the boat ABC 2. Tatang and his son were very nice (unlike the ones who hoarded us at the port)

I suggest calling Sights and Sands directly (It will be cheaper, trust me.) and make your tour arrangements there because there’s a chance that Caramoan Haven will assign you to a hometel (meaning, shared bathroom. Ew) Make sure you request for your own room.

The Harry! Waaaaaaay too crowded! We rented a smaller boat again. It might cost us more but at least we were comfortable and the trip was faster.

Last stop: CWC (CamSur Watersports Complex)

Ken would’ve loved this!Skates/boards are his life :) Anyway, back to me hahaha! I was super hungry so I ordered these for myself! Yumm!!

flaunting her Six Flags jersey shorts :))

My siblings tried kneeboarding/wakeboarding. Unfortunately, I had to sit this one out so what’s a girl to do but pig out, right? Besides, I already tried this a few years ago with my blockmates and I can’t complete one damn cycle. I don’t have enough upper body strength LOL :))

That guy looks like Kenneth! HAHAHAH

I don’t get why my my dad always drags us to the beach, it always leaves all of us as dark as Kirara! hahaha! No regrets, though. Family vacations are always fun especially the roadtrip part. And it’s always cool to go somewhere and try something new. And of course, we start by our exploring our own. The Philippines’ natural beauty and beaches never fail to amaze me. It takes my breath away.

Will Work For Shoes

I’ve been helping around our bakery for the past few weeks and this was how my mom paid me :))

I got all of these fancy colorful pairs of wedges from Liliw, Laguna.  Super good quality and very affordable :) Shoe shopping haven, indeed!

These shoes are going to take me somewhere I’ve always dreamed of for so long, soon! Ahhh! Humbled and grateful, always <3

Ladurée French Macarons

Pardon my hiatus. I’m working at home and there’s no internet connection :(

Anyway, I woke up one morning and found this amazing package on my bed side from Ate Maira and Kuya Rj :)

Legit French macarons, straight from Paris! <3

Ahhhhhh! Too pretty to eat!

First bite. Heaven. <3
